Martini- We'll always love you

We lost our friend today.

Nearly 8 years ago we started our family with a Rottweiler.  I had wanted one for as long as I could remember, but the wifey wanted a lap dog (which she got!).  I was applying for the FBI and to the point I had to sign an affidavit that I would move wherever I was assigned.  With a 4 year residency in St. Louis, that wasn't going to be the best way to start a marriage... so we made a deal.
We had just gotten married, both changed jobs, and bought a house; why not get a dog too?  With cash in hand we drove out into the boonies and returned with Tini.  Little did I know she would be within 5 feet of me, 12 hours a day for 8 wonderful years.  She came into our lives as she would eventually leave them, head in our hands.
She was the sweetest, most beautiful and most stubborn creature I had ever lived with, and so was Martini.

Long hours at the hospital often led to jealousy of 2 best friends, drinking buddies and bed mates.

But they always made up.

You always knew what holiday it was in our house, even though the costumes rarely fit.

We could not have been happier!

Until.....

Time for us to both change jobs, move, and have a baby!

And then there were two!

A complete family.

We'll see you at the rainbow bridge... we miss you.

  1. Smart, sweet, loyal and unconditionally loving . . .

I know that you can't see me, but trust me I'm right here.
Although I'm up in heaven my love for you stays near.
So often I see you crying, many times you call my name.
I want so much to be with you and take away your pain.
I wish that I could make you see that heaven indeed is real.
If you could see me run and play how much better you would feel.
So our loving God has promised me that when the time is right
You'll step out of the darkness and meet me in the light.

I'm waiting for you on the Rainbow Bridge. Enjoy every day until we meet again. Love, Martini
